This verse in the King James

King James wording
And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them.

The six days and mountain quietly place Jesus inside Sinai’s revelation pattern, while “transfigured” makes the revelation visible in his own form.

This verse speaks through a sequence of ascent, separation, and disclosure: Jesus is led up with three companions, and they see his form change. The six days echo Sinai, where glory rests on the mountain before Moses is called into the cloud. Here, revelation becomes visible to witnesses.

GROWS FROM

μορφ-

morph-

Form or shape; the way something is configured and made perceptible.

“changed in shape” in this verse is metemorphōthē. The verb combines ⁨μετά⁩ (meta, change) with ⁨μορφή⁩ (morphē, form): Jesus undergoes a change of form before the witnesses. The same verb later names transformation through renewed thought and through beholding the Lord’s glory, linking visible revelation with a change that reaches the beholder.

ALSO GROWS

morphē: Form or shape.

μορφή

In Philippians 2:6 the same form-word describes Christ’s form; it lets “transfigured” carry the sense of form becoming manifest, not merely a change in brightness.

metamorphoō: To transform or change form.

μεταμορφόω

Romans 12:2 uses this same verb for being transformed through the renewing of the mind, joining the mountain’s visible change to transformation within.

Encounter with divine glory makes transformation visible and can leave the beholder changed.

And it came to be, when Moses went down from mount Sinai with the two tablets of testimony in Moses' hand, when he went down from the mountain, that Moses did not perceive that the skin of his face sent out horns while he spoke with him.
Exodus 34:29 · SDVAfter speaking with God on Sinai, Moses carries a visible change in his face.
Do not take the shape of this age, but be reshaped by the renewing of your mind, so that you may test what is the good, well-pleasing, and complete will of God.
Romans 12:2 · SDVThe same transformation verb describes a change that reaches the mind and reshapes perception.
But we all, with uncovered faces, mirror the weight of the LORD, and are being reshaped into the same image, ever increasing in weight, even as from the breath of the LORD.
2 Corinthians 3:18 · SDVBeholding the Lord’s glory is joined to being changed into that image.
But we all, with uncovered faces, mirror the weight of the LORD, and are being reshaped into the same image, ever increasing in weight, even as from the breath of the LORD.
2 Corinthians 3:18 · SDV

The Greek verb rendered “transfigured” here is the same verb rendered “changed” in this verse. Mark shows the change visibly in Jesus; here the same root names people being changed as they behold the Lord’s glory.
