This verse in the King James

King James wording
But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.

The enemy plants a rival seed beside the wheat while the field sleeps, so danger can grow inside what appears to be one crop.

In your life, good growth can stand beside what is destructive without sharing its source. Harm may enter unseen while attention is absent, then keep growing after its planter has disappeared. Sharing a field does not make its plants kin.

WHAT THIS UNDOES

Whatever harmful thing grows in your field must have been planted by you.

ἐπέσπειρεν

epespeiren from speirō

GROWS FROM

σπειρ-

speir-

To sow or scatter seed.

“sowed” in this verse is epespeiren from speirō. This word family links sowing with seed or offspring and with scattering abroad. Greek keeps the act, what it plants, and its dispersal in one verbal kinship: the enemy’s work is a rival origin multiplying within the same field.

ALSO GROWS

sperma: Seed; offspring.

σπέρμα

The seed is the living result of sowing, so the tares are more than a passing intrusion: they are growth from a different source.

diaspeirō: To scatter abroad; to sow widely.

διασπείρω

This branch carries sowing outward, revealing how one planting can spread beyond the moment it begins.

A shared field can hold growth from opposed sources, whose origins become visible in what they produce.

And I will set opposition between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed. He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.
Genesis 3:15 · SDVThe verse names opposed seeds and shows conflict rooted in different origins.
In this the children of God are visible, and so are the children of the Slanderer. Everyone who does not do alignment is not out of God, and neither is the one who does not love his brother.
1 John 3:10 · SDVThe source of a life becomes manifest through what grows from it.
And the fruit of alignment is sown in wholeness for those who make wholeness.
James 3:18 · SDVA different sowing produces a different fruit, with its source visible in its yield.
The enemy who sowed them is the Slanderer; the harvest is the end of the age; and the reapers are messengers.
Matthew 13:39 · SDV

The next verse names the hidden planter and repeats the same Greek sowing verb, ⁨ἐπέσπειρεν⁩ (epespeiren). The mixed growth has a source: the tares are deliberately planted by the enemy among the wheat.
