This verse in the King James

King James wording
In that day also he shall come even to thee from Assyria, and from the fortified cities, and from the fortress even to the river, and from sea to sea, and from mountain to mountain.

The river is ⁨נָהָר⁩ (nahar, river), from ⁨נהר⁩ (nahar, to flow), so a geographic edge becomes the movement that carries return.

You are addressed as a destination the farthest places can reach: from distant powers and guarded cities, across river, sea, and mountain. Distance does not make you unreachable; even the edges of the map become routes toward you. What is scattered has a way back.

WHAT THIS UNDOES

The lie this verse undoes is that whatever is distant, fortified, or separated by a boundary is permanently beyond reach.

נָהָר

nahar

GROWS FROM

נהר

nahar

To flow or stream.

The river is more than an endpoint: the same root names the movement of peoples who flow toward a mountain. What looks like a boundary is also a current carrying the scattered toward return.

ALSO GROWS

nahar: River; stream.

נָהָר

Micah places the river among the farthest boundaries crossed by those returning.

ve-naharu: And they flow; and they stream.

וְנָהֲרוּ

Isaiah 2:2 uses this verb for the nations flowing toward the LORD’s mountain, giving the river root a sense of gathering movement.

Restoration draws scattered people across every boundary until the farthest edge becomes a route toward home.

And it shall come to pass in the hindmost days, that the mountain of the LORD's house shall be set firm at the head of the mountains, and shall be lifted up above the hills, and all nations shall flow toward it.
Isaiah 2:2 · SDVThe nations flow toward the mountain, turning distance into movement toward a shared center.
And he will lift a banner for the nations, and gather in the driven ones of Israel, and gather the scattered of Judah from the four wings of the earth.
Isaiah 11:12 · SDVThe gathering reaches every direction, as Micah’s sea-to-sea and mountain-to-mountain reaches every boundary.
And not for that nation only, but that he would also gather together into one the children of God who were scattered abroad.
John 11:52 · SDVThe scattered are gathered into one, extending the return beyond a single people.
And it shall come to pass in the hindmost days, that the mountain of the LORD's house shall be set firm at the head of the mountains, and shall be lifted up above the hills, and all nations shall flow toward it.
Isaiah 2:2 · SDV

Micah names ⁨נָהָר⁩ (nahar, river); Isaiah uses ⁨וְנָהֲרוּ⁩ (ve-naharu, and they flow) for the nations moving toward the LORD’s mountain. The shared root ⁨נהר⁩ (nahar, flow) turns the river from a geographic edge into the movement drawing the nations toward the mountain.
