This verse in the King James

King James wording
Behold upon the mountains the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace! O Judah, keep thy solemn feasts, perform thy vows: for the wicked shall no more pass through thee; he is utterly cut off.

The same Hebrew root names both the peace announced and the vows made whole.

The announcement of wholeness reaches you where threat has been passing through. Life can return to its feasts and fulfilled promises as the intruding force is cut off.

WHAT THIS UNDOES

This undoes the belief that danger has the final right of passage through your life: the verse names an end to invasion and a return to celebration and kept vows.

שָׁלוֹם

shalom

GROWS FROM

שׁלם

sh-l-m

To be complete or whole; to complete, repay, or make good.

English makes “peace” and “perform” seem unrelated. In Hebrew, shalom (wholeness) and shallemi (complete or fulfill your vows) share the root ⁨שׁלם⁩: the announced wholeness is echoed in vows made whole.

ALSO GROWS

shalom: Peace, well-being, wholeness.

שָׁלוֹם

This is the wholeness the messenger announces.

shallem: To complete, fulfill, or repay; in the verse, ⁨שַׁלְּמִי⁩ (shallemi) means “fulfill.”

שַׁלֵּם

This is the root in “perform thy vows”: wholeness and fulfilled commitment share one Hebrew root.

Scripture presents peace as public wholeness: intrusion ends, and the community can resume its feasts and promises.

How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of the one who brings good news, who makes wholeness heard, who brings good news of good, who makes deliverance heard, who says to Zion, Your God governs.
Isaiah 52:7 · SDVThe messenger announces peace on the mountains, and the message names the end of domination: “Thy God reigneth!”
And I will give wholeness in the land, and you shall lie down, and none shall make you tremble. And I will cause the harmful beasts to cease from the land, and the sword shall not cross through your land.
Leviticus 26:6 · SDVPeace becomes tangible as the sword no longer passes through the land and people can lie down without fear.
Wholeness I leave with you; my wholeness I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be stirred, and do not let it shrink.
John 14:27 · SDVPeace is given as a present reality that loosens fear’s hold on the heart.
How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of the one who brings good news, who makes wholeness heard, who brings good news of good, who makes deliverance heard, who says to Zion, Your God governs.
Isaiah 52:7 · SDV

Isaiah repeats Nahum’s mountain-foot announcement of good tidings and peace, including ⁨שָׁלוֹם⁩ (shalom, wholeness). Isaiah names the message behind Nahum’s reversal: “Thy God reigneth!”
