This verse in the King James

King James wording
And this is the law of the Nazarite, when the days of his separation are fulfilled: he shall be brought unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation:

The Nazarite’s separation shares its Hebrew root with his name, and its appointed end is an opening into meeting.

A set-apart season has a measure: when its days are full, it brings you to the entrance of meeting. Separation reaches a threshold; it does not mean endless distance.

WHAT THIS UNDOES

This undoes the belief that being set apart means remaining cut off: the separation has an appointed end at the entrance of meeting.

נִזְרוֹ

nizro

GROWS FROM

נזר

n-z-r

to set apart or consecrate; the word family also names consecration and its sign, a crown or diadem

Nazarite and separation come from the same Hebrew root, joining the person to the consecrated period. When that period is full, the separated life reaches the entrance of meeting.

ALSO GROWS

nazir: a consecrated person, a Nazarite

נָזִיר

The title names someone by the very quality that defines this period: being set apart.

nezer: consecration; a crown or diadem as its sign

נֵזֶר

The same root links being set apart with a visible mark of consecration.

פֶּתַח

petach

GROWS FROM

פתח

p-t-ḥ

to open; an opening or entrance

The word translated door also means an opening. The completion of separation arrives at a threshold where meeting can begin.

ALSO GROWS

patach: to open

פָּתַח

The doorway is named through the act of opening, giving the endpoint of the vow the shape of access.

petach: an opening, entrance, or doorway

פֶּתַח

The Nazarite arrives at an opening into the meeting place, not at an endpoint of permanent distance.

A set-apart life reaches its purpose through presentation into God’s presence and work.

This is a continual rising offering throughout your generations, at the opening of the tent of meeting before the LORD, where I will meet you, to speak with you there.
Exodus 29:42 · SDVThe entrance to the meeting tent is where the LORD meets and speaks, making the threshold the place of encounter.
As they served the Lord and fasted, the Set-Apart Breath said, Mark off for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.
Acts 13:2 · SDVBeing set apart leads directly into assigned work.
Therefore I urge you, brothers, through the compassions of God, to set your bodies beside God as a living sacrifice, set apart, well-pleasing to him, which is your true service.
Romans 12:1 · SDVThe set-apart life takes form as a body presented to God in service.
And the separated one shall shave the head of his separation at the opening of the tent of meeting, and shall take the hair of the head of his separation, and set it in the fire that is beneath the slaughter of wholeness.
Numbers 6:18 · SDV

The same NZR root names both the Nazarite and his separation here. The next verse shows the completion enacted at the same doorway: the outward sign of the set-apart period is removed and placed into the offering.
