This verse in the King James

King James wording
The seed also of his servants shall inherit it: and they that love his name shall dwell therein.

The inherited place is a home for a continuing seed, and loving God’s name means being joined to God’s nature.

The verse holds your life within a continuity that outlasts one generation: the servants’ seed receives the inheritance and dwells in it. To love his name (⁨שֵׁם⁩, shem: name as nature) is to be drawn to who he is; the promise is habitation, a place to belong.

WHAT THIS UNDOES

This undoes the idea that inheritance is only something to own: the verse’s destination is life dwelling within what is received.

יִשְׁכְּנוּ

yishkenu

GROWS FROM

שׁכן

sh-k-n

Settle, dwell, reside.

“settle within it” in this verse is yishkenu. The root connects dwelling with the Mishkan, the dwelling place, and with a neighbor, one who dwells nearby. The inheritance is not held at a distance: its fulfillment is settling into a place of belonging.

ALSO GROWS

mishkan: Dwelling place, tabernacle.

מִשְׁכָּן

This dwelling place comes from the same root, showing that the inherited land becomes a settled home.

shakhen: Neighbor, one who dwells nearby.

שָׁכֵן

The root links dwelling with nearness: those who inherit the place belong within it.

זֶרַע

zeraʿ

GROWS FROM

זרע

z-r-ʿ

Sow, scatter seed.

The same root holds seed and sowing, so the inheritance carries a future still being sown. The verse presents the servants’ seed as a continuing lineage, not merely an individual claim.

ALSO GROWS

zaraʿ: To sow.

זָרַע

The verb shows the action contained in the seed image: what is sown continues into the future.

zeraʿ: Seed, offspring, descendants.

זֶרַע

This word holds both the seed and the generations that grow from it, linking lineage to inheritance.

אֹהֲבֵי

ohavei

GROWS FROM

אהב

ʾ-h-b

Love, be attached to.

Those who love his name are drawn to his nature, since name (⁨שֵׁם⁩, shem: name as identity and character) carries more than a label. Their dwelling is joined to the one whose nature they love.

ALSO GROWS

ahavah: Love.

אַהֲבָה

This noun names the attachment that describes those who love his name.

ahuv: Beloved.

אָהוּב

The same root describes one held within love, illuminating the bond behind dwelling in the inheritance.

God’s inheritance is fulfilled as a dwelling that carries life beyond the present generation.

The aligned will inherit the land and pitch their tent in it for the ages.
Psalm 37:29 · SDVInheritance and dwelling appear together, making settled life the shape of what is received.
And your people shall all be aligned; they shall take hold of the land for the ages, the shoot of my planting, the work of my hands, that I might be adorned.
Isaiah 60:21 · SDVThe inheritance continues through people described as God’s planting, joining land, growth, and generations.
Jesus answered and said to him, If anyone loves me, that one will guard my word, and my Father will love that one, and we will come to him and make a place to remain with him.
John 14:23 · SDVLove is met with abiding presence, echoing the verse’s movement from loving God’s name to dwelling in the inheritance.
The aligned will inherit the land and pitch their tent in it for the ages.
Psalm 37:29 · SDV

Psalm 37:29 uses the same Hebrew dwelling root, ⁨שׁכן⁩ (shakan: dwell), alongside inheriting the land. The shared root makes the link structural: inheritance is completed as settled belonging.
