This verse in the King James

King James wording
We see not our signs: there is no more any prophet: neither is there among us any that knoweth how long.

The deepest wound is not only that the signs are unseen, but that no one can say how long the silence will last.

You may be facing a stretch where signs are unseen, no clear voice is present, and no one knows how long it lasts. The verse holds all three together: the missing marker, the silence of guidance, and the absent horizon.

יֹדֵעַ

yōdēaʿ from yādaʿ

GROWS FROM

י־ד־ע

To know, recognize, or come to know through experience.

“perceives” in this verse is yōdēaʿ from yādaʿ. The line says more than that nobody has a date or prediction: there is no one among the people who can recognize how long this will last. The root can describe knowledge formed through encounter, so the missing thing is a knower, not just a piece of information.

ALSO GROWS

yādaʿ: To know or recognize; it can also describe intimate knowing.

יָדַע

This range makes the absence personal: no one can recognize the shape or duration of the silence.

daʿat: Knowledge or understanding.

דַּעַת

This related form shows that the verse names a lack of knowing itself, not merely a lack of visible signs.

When guidance seems absent, scripture gives the waiting a voice and lets the question of its duration remain open.

And the child Samuel attended the LORD before Eli. And the word of the LORD was rare in those days, and no vision broke through.
1 Samuel 3:1 · SDVThe verse names a time when the word and vision are scarce, giving language to the felt absence of guidance.
To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. How long, O LORD? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me?
Psalm 13:1 · SDVThe speaker voices the same exposed uncertainty: the presence seems hidden and the duration is unknown.
And they cry out with a great voice, saying, How long, Set-Apart and true Master, will you not judge and avenge our blood against those who settle upon the earth?
Revelation 6:10 · SDVThe cry for a time horizon remains audible even when justice has not yet come.
To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. O LORD, you probe me, and you perceive me.
Psalm 139:1 · SDV

The Hebrew verb ⁨יָדַע⁩ (yādaʿ, to know or recognize through encounter) stands behind “knoweth” here and “known” there. Psalm 74 names the community’s inability to know how long; Psalm 139 offers the striking counterpoint that the speaker is known even inside that uncertainty.
