This verse in the King James

King James wording
And I will give him the morning star.

The morning star promised here is the very identity the giver later claims, so the gift is the giver’s own dawning presence shared with the one who overcomes.

The promise speaks now: Jesus gives the morning star to the one who overcomes. Yeshua (⁨יֵשׁוּעַ⁩, Yēshūaʿ, deliverance from constriction into spaciousness) names himself the bright and morning star, so the gift is the giver’s own dawn-bearing presence shared with the reader. The night is real, but it is not the final horizon.

WHAT THIS UNDOES

The reader does not have to manufacture the dawn alone; the verse names it as a gift.

δώσω

dōsō

GROWS FROM

⁨δίδωμι⁩ (didōmi; ⁨δο-⁩/⁨δω-⁩ stem)

To give, grant, or place something in another’s possession.

The form ⁨δώσω⁩ (dōsō, “I will give”) comes from ⁨δίδωμι⁩ (didōmi, “to give”), whose word family includes sharing and handing over. Since the morning star is the giver’s own identity, the promise opens as sharing in that identity, not merely transferring an object.

ALSO GROWS

metadidōmi: Share, impart.

μεταδίδωμι

This branch makes the gift’s sharing dimension visible: the star is given as a participation in the giver’s own dawn.

paradidōmi: Hand over, deliver, entrust.

παραδίδωμι

This branch carries the sense of placing something into another’s keeping, as the promise places the morning star with the one who overcomes.

dosis: Giving, gift.

δόσις

This noun makes the verse’s central movement explicit: the star arrives as a gift.

The star that marks God’s arriving dawn is given as a presence that can rise within the reader.

I see him, but not now; I gaze upon him, but not near. A star shall tread out of Jacob, and a rod shall rise out of Israel, and shatter the edges of Moab, and lay low all the children of Sheth.
Numbers 24:17 · SDVA star rising from Jacob signals the approach of an appointed ruler, joining dawn’s sign to a coming presence.
And we have the steadier prophetic word, to which you do well to attend, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day breaks through and the light-bearing star rises in your hearts.
2 Peter 1:19 · SDVThe day star rises in the heart, showing the promised dawn as something received within.
I, Jesus, send my messenger to bear witness to you of these things in the assemblies. I am the root and the offspring of David, the bright morning star.
Revelation 22:16 · SDVJesus names himself the bright and morning star, revealing the person behind the promised sign.
I, Jesus, send my messenger to bear witness to you of these things in the assemblies. I am the root and the offspring of David, the bright morning star.
Revelation 22:16 · SDV

Yeshua (⁨יֵשׁוּעַ⁩, Yēshūaʿ, deliverance from constriction into spaciousness) names himself the bright and morning star. That turns the promised star from an object into a person: the giver and the gift are joined.
