This verse in the King James

King James wording
For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

The coming glory is weight to be uncovered within you.

Your suffering in this present time is real, but it cannot measure the weight of the glory that will be uncovered in you. This verse gives present pain no authority to define what is coming into view.

WHAT THIS UNDOES

The lie that what hurts now defines the full measure of your life.

ἀποκαλυφθῆναι

apokalyphthēnai

GROWS FROM

ἀποκαλύπτω

apokalyptō

To uncover or disclose; formed from ⁨ἀπό⁩ (apo, away) and ⁨καλύπτω⁩ (kalýptō, cover).

“unveiled” in this verse is apokalyphthēnai. The verb means to uncover what is covered. The glory, ⁨δόξα⁩ (doxa), weight, is revealed “in us,” so the verse pictures its arrival as disclosure within, not something merely held at a distance.

ALSO GROWS

kalýptō: To cover or conceal.

καλύπτω

It names what the word for “revealed” opens: what is covered comes into view.

apokálypsis: An uncovering or disclosure.

ἀποκάλυψις

This noun shares the same word family and makes the verse’s movement from hiddenness to disclosure visible.

Present suffering cannot set the measure of the glory revealed when what is hidden comes into view.

And the weight of the LORD is uncovered, and all flesh sees it together, for the mouth of the LORD has spoken it.
Isaiah 40:5 · SDVGlory is revealed, moving from what is unseen into view.
For our light pressure, which is for a moment, works for us a heavy weight, the weight of the ages, overflowing measure upon measure.
2 Corinthians 4:17 · SDVPresent affliction is set against a weight of glory beyond its measure.
so that the proving of your trust, far costlier than gold that perishes though it is tested through fire, may be found unto praise and weight and honor at the unveiling of Jesus the Anointed One.
1 Peter 1:7 · SDVSuffering and tested trust are placed in the light of glory at its appearing.
For the creation waits with its head stretched forward, watching for the unveiling of the sons of God.
Romans 8:19 · SDV

The Greek word translated “manifestation” is ⁨ἀποκάλυψις⁩ (apokálypsis), from the same uncovering word family as “revealed” in verse 18. The next line opens the image further: the disclosure of glory in you is also a disclosure of who you are.
