This verse in the King James

King James wording
Then Hezekiah commanded to prepare chambers in the house of the LORD; and they prepared them,

The hidden work of abundance is making room for what has already arrived.

What is entrusted to the house becomes holdable when space is made for it. Readiness is actual work: what is received has a place where it can be kept and served.

WHAT THIS UNDOES

It undoes the idea that receiving is the whole work: what comes in also needs prepared space.

לְהָכִין

lehakhin vayyakhinu

GROWS FROM

כון

kun

To be firm or established; in the causative form, to establish, set in place, or prepare.

“set firm” in this verse is lehakhin vayyakhinu. The verse uses this root for both the instruction to prepare the chambers and the people’s act of preparing them. Preparation here means establishing real space; the same root can describe what is made firm and a place fixed for dwelling, so readiness becomes room that can hold what arrives.

ALSO GROWS

nakhon: Firm, established

נָכוֹן

This branch shows that preparation carries the sense of making something settled and ready to stand.

makon: A fixed place, dwelling place

מָכוֹן

This branch connects the act of preparing with the creation of a place where what is entrusted can remain.

Provision becomes usable when room is prepared to receive it and what arrives is gathered with care.

Then he said, Go, ask for vessels from outside, from all your neighbors, even empty vessels. Do not ask for only a few.
2 Kings 4:3 · SDVEmpty vessels are made ready before the oil is poured, so provision has room to gather.
And by knowledge the chambers are filled with all weighty and sweet riches.
Proverbs 24:4 · SDVPrepared chambers become places where what is precious can be held.
When they were filled, he said to his disciples, Gather up the broken pieces that remain, so that nothing perishes.
John 6:12 · SDVWhat has arrived is gathered and kept, so abundance is not treated as disposable.
Through wisdom a house is built, and through discernment it is set firm.
Proverbs 24:3 · SDV

“Established” in Proverbs comes from the same root, ⁨כון⁩ (kun), as “prepare” here. The next verse names chambers filled with riches: first a house is established, then its rooms can hold what comes in.
