Selah Decoded Version The Selah Decoded Version renders what the Hebrew and Greek words meant to the people who first heard them.

This verse in the King James

King James wording
And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

The very things the instruction cannot set right are where alignment comes through him, received by trust.

Through him, you are aligned from everything the instruction of Moses could not set right. This is true of everyone who trusts him: alignment comes through him and is received in trust. The verse locates your standing in him, not in what you can accomplish by instruction.

WHAT THIS UNDOES

The belief that perfect law-keeping can establish your standing is undone: the verse says the law of Moses cannot justify you from all these things.

δικαιοῦται

dikaioûtai

GROWS FROM

δικαι-

dikai-

The Greek word family of being right, declaring someone right, and vindicating them.

“aligned” in this verse is dikaioûtai. English makes “justified” sound like a verdict, but the ⁨δικαι-⁩ family also names the just person and the state of rightness. Here, alignment comes through him and reaches the whole field of what the instruction could not resolve.

ALSO GROWS

dikaios: Just, right, in the right.

δίκαιος

The person brought into alignment belongs to the same word family as the quality of being right.

dikaiosynē: Righteousness, right standing, alignment.

δικαιοσύνη

This branch names the state that the verb describes: being brought into right standing.

ὁ πιστεύων

ho pisteuōn

GROWS FROM

πιστ-

pist-

Trust, reliance, or placing confidence in; the verb can carry the sense of entrusting oneself.

“leans their full weight” in this verse is ho pisteuōn. The word describes more than agreement with a statement: it names the one placing reliance on him. Its related words keep trust and steadiness within one family.

ALSO GROWS

pistis: Trust, confidence, reliance.

πίστις

The related noun names the trust through which the verse says alignment is received.

pistos: Firm, steady, trustworthy.

πιστός

The family joins the act of relying with the quality of being dependable.

Trust receives alignment through him where instruction cannot establish it.

Behold, his living soul is swollen, and it is not straight within him, but the aligned one shall live by the lean of his full weight.
Habakkuk 2:4 · SDVThe verse binds uprightness and life to emunah, steadfast trust, rather than to standing established by oneself.
So we count that a human is aligned through trust, apart from the works of the instruction.
Romans 3:28 · SDVThe same Greek ⁨δικαι-⁩ family links being justified to trust, while deeds of the law cannot produce that standing.
Therefore, aligned through trust, we have wholeness with God through our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One.
Romans 5:1 · SDVThe same alignment received through trust opens into peace with God.
Therefore, aligned through trust, we have wholeness with God through our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One.
Romans 5:1 · SDV

Romans uses the same Greek ⁨δικαι-⁩ family as “justified” here, then shows what this alignment opens: peace with God. The two verses hold together one movement, trust receives right standing through him, and that standing is peace.
