This verse in the King James

King James wording
Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God;

A calling is pictured as household stewardship: what God gives to one is directed through that person for others, until the word comes to fullness.

What is entrusted is directed toward others, and its work is to bring God’s word to its full measure. The one who carries the gift is a steward of what is given, not its owner.

WHAT THIS UNDOES

This undoes the belief that what is given to you is yours to keep: the verse frames it as an entrustment with a purpose beyond you.

οἰκονομίαν

oikonomian

GROWS FROM

⁨οἶκος⁩ (oikos, house) + ⁨νέμω⁩ (nemō, manage or distribute)

Household management; stewardship or administration.

“household charge” in this verse is oikonomian. The word carries the shape of household responsibility: something entrusted to be managed for another’s good. The phrase “given to me for you” makes that direction plain, the stewardship passes through one person toward others.

ALSO GROWS

oikonomos: Steward, household manager.

οἰκονόμος

This names the person who carries the responsibility that ⁨οἰκονομία⁩ describes.

oikonomeō: To manage or administer a household.

οἰκονομέω

This verb shows that stewardship is active care and administration, not merely something received.

πληρῶσαι

plērōsai

GROWS FROM

πληρόω

plēroō

To fill, make full, bring to completion.

“fill” in this verse is plērōsai. The verb holds the image of filling something to completion. Here, God’s word is what comes to fullness through the entrusted service.

ALSO GROWS

plērēs: Full, complete.

πλήρης

It shares the root’s sense of reaching fullness.

plērōma: Fullness, full measure.

πλήρωμα

It names the state of fullness toward which the work of ⁨πληρόω⁩ moves.

What God entrusts is made fruitful through service directed toward others.

"I will come down and speak with you there, and I will draw off some of the breath upon you and set it upon them; and they will lift the load of the people with you, so that you do not lift it alone."
Numbers 11:17 · SDVWhat is placed on others equips them to share the burden of the people.
That God was in the Anointed One, exchanging the world back to himself, not counting their falls against them, and setting in us the word of exchange.
2 Corinthians 5:19 · SDVThe word is committed to people so its work can reach others.
As each has received a gift, serve it to one another as good stewards of the many-colored favor of God.
1 Peter 4:10 · SDVA received gift becomes stewardship when it is used in service to one another.
For if I do this willingly, I have a wage; but if against my will, the household keeping of the good news has been entrusted to me.
1 Corinthians 9:17 · SDV

The Greek word ⁨οἰκονομία⁩ (oikonomia, stewardship) appears in both verses. Here, the gospel is described as committed to its bearer, opening “given to me for you” as a responsibility received and carried onward.
