This verse in the King James

King James wording
For how can the servant of this my lord talk with this my lord? for as for me, straightway there remained no strength in me, neither is there breath left in me.

When breath and strength have left him, speech is no longer something the servant can summon.

You can reach a point where your strength is gone and even speaking feels beyond you. The verse names that limit plainly: the breath that sustains speech has left the servant.

WHAT THIS UNDOES

Silence does not always mean unwillingness; sometimes the breath and strength needed to speak are gone.

נְשָׁמָה

neshamah

GROWS FROM

נשם

n-sh-m

To breathe; the breath that marks living presence.

The breath in this verse is neshamah, the same word used for the breath of life in the creation of the human. English lets “breath” sound like one detail among others, but the shared word connects this emptied moment to the breath by which life is present at all.

ALSO GROWS

neshamah: Breath

נְשָׁמָה

Here, no breath remains in the servant, and speaking fails with it.

nishmat chayyim: Breath of life

נִשְׁמַת חַיִּים

In Genesis, this is the breath breathed into the human; Daniel’s phrase “breath left in me” echoes that same life-bearing breath.

Breath is the living ground of human capacity; when it is absent, life and speech cannot be summoned by effort.

And the LORD God shaped the ground-being, Adam, from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and Adam became a living soul.
Genesis 2:7 · SDVHuman life is present as the breath of life enters the formed body.
The breath of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty keeps me alive.
Job 33:4 · SDVLife is given through the Almighty’s breath, echoing the breath that Daniel’s speaker says has left him.
Nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, for he himself gives to all life and breath and all things.
Acts 17:25 · SDVBreath and life are named together as gifts that sustain every living person.
And the LORD God shaped the ground-being, Adam, from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and Adam became a living soul.
Genesis 2:7 · SDV

Genesis names the life-bearing breath with the same Hebrew word used for the breath that has left the servant here. One verse shows breath entering and life beginning; the other names what happens when that breath is no longer present.
