King James wording
King James Version
For the LORD your God is he that goeth with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.THE KEY
Deliverance here is not arranged from afar; the LORD goes with you into the fight.
THE MEANING
The LORD your God goes with you into what threatens you, and fights for you against your enemies. Deliverance is already present as the direction of this encounter: you are not alone in the conflict, and its grip is not the final word.
WHAT THIS UNDOES
This undoes the belief that danger means God has withdrawn: the verse places the LORD’s presence inside the fight and names deliverance as its aim.
THE ROOT
לְהוֹשִׁיעַ
lehoshia
GROWS FROM
ישע
To deliver and bring into safety, moving from constriction toward spaciousness.
“to deliver you” in this verse is lehoshia. The verse does not place deliverance at a distance: the LORD goes with you into danger and delivers you through it. The root yasha carries the movement out of the tight place toward safety and room, while its related forms name both the deliverance and the one who brings it.
ALSO GROWS
yeshuah: Deliverance
יְשׁוּעָה
This noun makes the verb’s outcome visible: deliverance is what the LORD brings forth.
moshia: Deliverer
מוֹשִׁיעַ
The deliverer is not an abstract escape; the verse names the LORD as the one who goes with you and brings you out.
THE PATTERN
Divine deliverance accompanies the threatened one through conflict and toward safety.
The LORD will fight for you, and you will hold your tongue.Do not fear, for I am with you. Do not look about in dismay, for I am your God. I will grip you, and I will help you, and I will hold you up with the right hand of my alignment.Teaching them to guard all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you all the days, until the completion of the age. Amen.THE THREAD
A Psalm of David. The LORD is my light and my deliverance; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I tremble?“Salvation” here is yeshuah, from the same root as “to save” in Deuteronomy. The LORD who goes with you into the fight is also named as your present deliverance, the one who brings you out of fear’s constriction.
