This verse in the King James

King James wording
So they hanged Haman on the gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. Then was the king’s wrath pacified.

The word translated “prepared” also means “set firmly in place”, Haman establishes the place of his own reversal.

A person can set another’s destruction in place and find that very structure become the place of his own downfall. The king’s wrath subsides when Haman is hanged on the gallows he prepared for Mordecai.

WHAT THIS UNDOES

The lie this undoes is that I can design another person’s ruin from a safe distance and remain untouched by the design.

הֵכִין

hēkîn

GROWS FROM

כון

kûn

To be firm or established; in this verb form, to establish or make ready.

“prepared” in this verse is hēkîn. The Hebrew verb carries the sense of setting something firmly in place. Haman’s plan becomes a fixed place for his own death: what he establishes becomes the scene of his reversal.

ALSO GROWS

nakhon: Established, ready, or firm.

נָכוֹן

This branch makes the force of Haman’s preparation clearer: the gallows are made ready and stand in place for their intended use.

māḵôn: A fixed place, foundation, or dwelling.

מָכוֹן

This branch echoes the reversal: the structure Haman sets in place becomes the place where his own power ends.

The harm a person deliberately sets in motion can turn back upon its maker.

Whoever digs a pit falls into it; whoever rolls a stone, it turns back upon him.
Proverbs 26:27 · SDVThe trap and the rolling stone return upon the person who set them in motion.
His toil turns back upon his head, and his violence comes down upon his skull.
Psalm 7:16 · SDVThe verse names the return directly: violence descends upon the one who sends it out.
Do not be led astray. God is not sneered at. For whatever a person sows, that also he reaps.
Galatians 6:7 · SDVThe image of sowing and reaping shows that what a person puts into motion comes back as its yield.
Then Zeresh his wife and all his friends said to him, Let a tree be made, fifty cubits high, and tomorrow speak a word to the king that Mordecai may be hanged on it. Then go in with the king to the drinking, gladly. And the word was good before Haman, and he had the tree made.
Esther 5:14 · SDV

This verse names Mordecai as the intended victim and describes Haman having the gallows made. Esther 7:10 keeps the structure in place but puts Haman on it, making the reversal visible in the very object he prepared.
