This verse in the King James

King James wording
And let them judge the people at all seasons: and it shall be, that every great matter they shall bring unto thee, but every small matter they shall judge: so shall it be easier for thyself, and they shall bear the burden with thee.

The load grows lighter not because the matters disappear, but because more people carry the weight with you.

Your responsibility does not require you to decide every matter alone. Smaller matters can be judged by those beside you, while the weightier ones still come to you; the load is lighter because others bear it with you.

WHAT THIS UNDOES

This undoes the belief that a capable leader must personally resolve every matter: responsibility can remain intact while its weight is shared.

וְנָשְׂאוּ

ve-nas'u

GROWS FROM

נשׂא

Lift, carry, bear.

“carry the burden” in this verse is ve-nas'u. The verb behind “bear” names the work as lifting and carrying weight. The verse leaves the weightier matters with you, but the burden itself is borne with you: shared responsibility changes how heavy it is.

ALSO GROWS

massa: A burden or load.

מַשָּׂא

This related word names what is carried; the verse pairs a real burden with the act of carrying it together.

nasi: A leader or prince; a related noun traditionally understood as one lifted up.

נָשִׂיא

Its connection to the same root links leadership with being lifted up, while this verse shows the load being carried by several people.

The load lightens when judgment and responsibility are shared.

"I will come down and speak with you there, and I will draw off some of the breath upon you and set it upon them; and they will lift the load of the people with you, so that you do not lift it alone."
Numbers 11:17 · SDVOthers receive part of the work so that you do not bear the people’s burden alone.
Carry one another's weights, and so you fill up the instruction of the Anointed One.
Galatians 6:2 · SDVThe weight is carried between people, making shared responsibility part of their life together.
"I will come down and speak with you there, and I will draw off some of the breath upon you and set it upon them; and they will lift the load of the people with you, so that you do not lift it alone."
Numbers 11:17 · SDV

Both verses use ⁨נשׂא⁩ (nasa), “lift, carry, bear,” for carrying the burden together. Numbers makes the result plain: you do not have to carry it by yourself.
