King James wording
King James Version
And when the prince shall enter, he shall go in by the way of the porch of that gate, and he shall go forth by the way thereof.THE KEY
The same way carries the prince both into the gate and back out of it.
THE MEANING
The prince enters by the porch of the gate and leaves by that same way. Entry and exit belong to one continuous passage, so the threshold carries movement in both directions.
THE ROOT
דֶּרֶךְ
derek
GROWS FROM
דרך
d-r-k
To tread or step along; a way is a track made by movement.
The verse repeats this word-root for the prince’s entry and exit. A way here is more than a direction: it is the same traversed path, carrying him through the threshold both in and out.
ALSO GROWS
darak: To tread, step, or walk over.
דָּרַךְ
This verb shows the motion held inside derek: a way is something feet travel.
derek: A road, path, or way of proceeding.
דֶּרֶךְ
The repeated word makes the prince’s entrance and departure one continuous route.
THE PATTERN
Entry and exit can remain held within one way.
Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed when you go out.The LORD watches over your going out and your coming in, from now and to the ages.I am the door. Through me, if anyone enters, he shall be delivered, and shall go in and out, and shall find pasture.THE THREAD
For the LORD perceives the way of the aligned, but the way of the wicked loses its way.Psalm 1 uses the same Hebrew word, derek (דֶּרֶךְ), for a way of life. In Ezekiel, it names the prince’s traversed route; here, the same root lets you see a life-path as a way actually walked.
