This verse in the King James

King James wording
And his brightness was as the light; he had horns coming out of his hand: and there was the hiding of his power.

Radiance reaches the eye from his hand, while the fullness of his strength remains hidden.

The verse holds two truths together for you now: the radiance is visible, and the power beneath it remains partly hidden. What reaches your sight is a real expression of strength, but it does not exhaust that strength.

WHAT THIS UNDOES

This undoes the belief that visible power must reveal everything behind it; here, the radiance is real even as the fullness remains concealed.

קַרְנַיִם

qarnayim

GROWS FROM

קרן

A horn or projecting point; the related verb carries the sense of shining or sending out rays.

“horns rose” in this verse is qarnayim. The Hebrew word can evoke both horns and rays: projections that extend outward. The image lets you see power issuing from the hand without suggesting that its hidden fullness is exposed.

ALSO GROWS

qeren: Horn; also a ray or beam in contexts of radiance.

קֶרֶן

It holds together the image of something projecting from the hand and the light that makes that projection visible.

qāran: To shine or send out rays.

קָרַן

This verb describes Moses’ shining face in Exodus 34:29, echoing the radiance in Habakkuk.

חֶבְיוֹן

ḥebyôn

GROWS FROM

חבא

To hide or conceal.

“lay hidden” in this verse is ḥebyôn. The word for hiding belongs to the same family as the verb for hiding oneself. The verse does not cancel the visible radiance; it places it beside what remains concealed.

ALSO GROWS

ḥābāʾ: To hide oneself.

חָבָא

This verbal form makes the concealment active: strength can remain out of sight even as its effects are visible.

maḥbôʾ: A hiding place or refuge.

מַחְבּוֹא

The related noun gives concealment a place-like sense, deepening the image of power whose source is not fully exposed.

Radiance can make divine presence perceptible while its fullness remains beyond sight.

And it came to be, when Moses went down from mount Sinai with the two tablets of testimony in Moses' hand, when he went down from the mountain, that Moses did not perceive that the skin of his face sent out horns while he spoke with him.
Exodus 34:29 · SDVMoses’ face shines after encounter, using the related Hebrew verb qāran for radiance.
He wraps himself in light as with a garment, stretching out the heavens like a curtain.
Psalm 104:2 · SDVLight reveals divine presence, while the image of a covering keeps that presence from being fully exposed.
No one has ever seen God. The only-born God, who is at the breast of the Father, has led him out.
John 1:18 · SDVGod is made known through the Son, while the verse still names God as unseen.
And it came to be, when Moses went down from mount Sinai with the two tablets of testimony in Moses' hand, when he went down from the mountain, that Moses did not perceive that the skin of his face sent out horns while he spoke with him.
Exodus 34:29 · SDV

Exodus uses ⁨קָרַן⁩ (qāran), to shine or send out rays, for Moses’ face; Habakkuk uses the related ⁨קַרְנַיִם⁩ (qarnayim), horns or rays, for what comes from the hand. The shared word-shape links radiance to what visibly extends from a hidden source.
