This verse in the King James

King James wording
The heaven shall reveal his iniquity; and the earth shall rise up against him.

The verse makes creation itself a witness: the heavens uncover what is hidden, while the earth refuses to shelter the one exposed.

What is hidden cannot make itself safe by remaining unseen: heaven discloses the crookedness, and earth rises against its bearer. The image leaves no neutral shelter, above exposes, beneath opposes.

WHAT THIS UNDOES

The belief that what stays hidden remains beyond consequence; here the heavens disclose the crookedness and the earth turns against the one who carries it.

יְגַלּוּ

yegallû

GROWS FROM

גלה

Uncover, disclose, bring into view.

⁨יְגַלּוּ⁩ is a form of ⁨גלה⁩ (galah), to uncover or reveal. The same root appears in words for being revealed and for revealing, so the heavens act as agents that remove concealment, not merely as scenery around a judgment.

ALSO GROWS

niglah: Be revealed, become visible.

נִגְלָה

It shows the same root from the side of what is uncovered: the hidden thing comes into view.

megalleh: One who reveals or uncovers.

מְגַלֶּה

It shows the root as an active uncovering, like the heavens disclosing what was concealed.

מִתְקוֹמָמָה

mitqomemah

GROWS FROM

קום

Rise, stand, take a position.

“rises up” in this verse is mitqomemah. The verb ⁨מִתְקוֹמָמָה⁩ comes from ⁨קום⁩ and describes the earth rising into opposition. The image gives the ground a stance: it does not merely support him, but stands against him.

ALSO GROWS

mitqomem: Rise up, take a stand; revolt.

מִתְקוֹמֵם

This form carries the same rising action, showing how standing up can become opposition in this verse.

qomah: Height, stature.

קוֹמָה

The shared consonants preserve the concrete sense of standing upright beneath the earth’s hostile rising.

What is concealed cannot remain beyond witness; what is hidden is brought into the open.

And the LORD said, What have you done? The voice of your brother's blood cries out to me from the ground.
Genesis 4:10 · SDVThe ground itself bears witness, as the earth does in Job, giving voice to what was hidden.
For God brings every making into judgment, upon every hidden thing, whether good or harm.
Ecclesiastes 12:14 · SDVEven what is secret is brought into judgment and made visible.
For there is nothing covered that will not be uncovered, and nothing hidden that will not be known.
Luke 12:2 · SDVThe verse states directly that covering cannot keep a thing hidden forever.
He uncovers the depths out of darkness, and brings out to light the deepest darkness.
Job 12:22 · SDV

The Hebrew word behind “discovereth” uses the same ⁨גלה⁩ (galah, uncover or reveal) root as “reveal” in Job 20:27. Here hidden depths come out of darkness; in the current verse, the heavens uncover the crookedness the earth will no longer shelter.
