This verse in the Selah Decoded Version

The verb rendered “stretched forth” is ⁨שָׁלַח⁩ (shalach), send forth, so the cherub’s hand is not merely reaching for fire; it is sending the fire onward.

The fire held between the cherubim passes through a hand into the linen-clothed figure’s hands, and he carries it out. What is held at the center does not remain contained there; it moves outward through a bearer.

WHAT THIS UNDOES

It undoes the belief that what is sacred stays safely contained at its source: here, fire passes from between the cherubim into human hands and is carried out.

שָׁלַח

shalach

GROWS FROM

שלח

To send, send forth, release, or extend.

The Hebrew says the cherub “sent forth” his hand, while the English says “stretched forth.” The root opens the image: the hand both reaches toward the fire and sends it onward, carrying it from between the cherubim toward what lies beyond. The figure then takes the fire and goes out, completing that movement.

ALSO GROWS

shaluaḥ: Sent or dispatched.

שָׁלוּחַ

The linen-clothed figure carries outward what has been sent from the cherubim’s midst.

Shiloach: A name associated with sent water.

שִׁלֹחַ

The name preserves the root’s movement from source to destination, as the fire here leaves its place and is carried out.

Fire marks a force that moves from a sacred source or moment onto human bearers.

And he spake unto the man clothed with linen, and said, Go in between the wheels, even under the cherub, and fill thine hand with coals of fire from between the cherubims, and scatter them over the city. And he went in in my sight.
Ezekiel 10:2 · KJVThe fire is taken from between the cherubim and placed in the linen-clothed figure’s hand to be scattered over the city.
Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:
Isaiah 6:6 · KJVA live coal is carried from the altar to Isaiah, making fire a transferred encounter rather than a static image.
And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
Acts 2:3 · KJVFire appears upon each person in the gathered assembly, marking human bearers with its presence.
Then the LORD said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh, and tell him, Thus saith the LORD God of the Hebrews, Let my people go, that they may serve me.
Exodus 9:1 · KJV

The verb rendered “stretched forth” is ⁨שָׁלַח⁩ (shalach), the same root in the command “Let my people go.” In Exodus a people are released; here fire is sent from between the cherubim through a hand and carried out.
