This verse in the Selah Decoded Version

The person standing before power is also the one who blesses it.

Jacob stands before Pharaoh, yet the blessing moves from Jacob to the king. The verse speaks now: rank can shape a room without deciding who has something to give. Someone who appears dependent may still carry a gift that reaches the powerful.

WHAT THIS UNDOES

The person with power is the only one in the room who can give.

וַיְבָרֶךְ

vayvarekh

GROWS FROM

ברך

To bless, with the root also associated with bending the knee.

“blessed” in this verse is vayvarekh. The same consonants ⁨ברך⁩ appear in berekh, “knee,” and berakhah, “blessing.” Blessing is something that passes between people: here, it moves from the one presented before the ruler to the ruler himself.

ALSO GROWS

berekh: Knee

בֶּרֶךְ

The knee carries the root’s bending image; Jacob’s blessing comes from a posture of encounter, not from occupying the throne.

berakhah: Blessing

בְּרָכָה

The noun shares the same root as the verb: Jacob does not merely stand before Pharaoh; he gives him a blessing.

Blessing passes between people across differences in rank, relationship, and power.

And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth:
Genesis 14:19 · KJVMelchizedek blesses Abram, showing blessing moving from one person to another rather than belonging to rank alone.
The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
Numbers 6:24 · KJVThe blessing is spoken toward another person as a gift of care.
Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.
Luke 6:28 · KJVBlessing crosses even a hostile relationship, reaching beyond the treatment one receives.
And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
Genesis 12:2 · KJV

“Bless” and “a blessing” both grow from ⁨ברך⁩, the root also heard in Jacob’s blessing of Pharaoh. What is received can become something carried outward, and Jacob makes that movement visible across a line of rank.
