The analysis reads the King James wording.
King James Version The King James Version, first published in 1611. Selah Verse shows the standard text.
THE KEY
The verse places inherited family on the outside, preparing the scene to redefine who belongs within.
THE MEANING
Blood can place people near Jesus, but it does not settle the question of belonging. Belonging takes shape through a life responsive to God’s will.
WHAT THIS UNDOES
Being born into the right family or standing near Jesus automatically makes me part of his inner circle.
THE ROOT
ἀδελφοί
adelphoi
GROWS FROM
δελφύς (delphys), “womb,” in the word family ἀδελφός (adelphos)
Same-womb kinship: brothers or siblings.
“brethren” in this verse is adelphoi. The word carries the sense of kin joined by birth. The scene keeps this language of family, then widens its boundary: Jesus names those who do God’s will as brother, sister, and mother.
ALSO GROWS
adelphē: sister
ἀδελφή
The feminine sibling form appears when Jesus names who belongs to his family.
adelphotēs: brotherhood, a community of siblings
ἀδελφότης
The same kinship word family can describe a wider community, beyond one set of biological brothers.
THE PATTERN
Belonging to God is made visible through a life responsive to God’s will.
Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.THE THREAD
For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother. The same Greek kinship word ἀδελφός (adelphos, “sibling”) names the brothers outside and the brother Jesus names within his family. The word’s family remains; the boundary of belonging shifts to doing God’s will.
