What Does Matthew 11:25 Mean in the King James?
At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.

THE KEY
The Father uncovers truth where human rank cannot claim it as its achievement.
THE MEANING
The Father’s disclosure is active now: what seems hidden is made visible to you without regard to your rank or command of ideas. The little ones receive what the wise and understanding cannot claim by virtue of being wise. The verse places knowing in a relationship of receiving, not on a ladder of achievement.
WHAT THIS UNDOES
The verse undoes the belief that clear seeing belongs to the most learned or intellectually self-sufficient. It places disclosure with the little ones, whose standing carries no claim of mastery.
THE ROOT
ἀπεκάλυψας
apekalypsas
GROWS FROM
καλύπτω
kalyptō
To cover or conceal; in ἀποκαλύπτω, what is covered is uncovered.
“revealed” in this verse is apekalypsas. The word pictures a cover being removed, so disclosure is not merely more information but the lifting of what conceals. In this verse, the little ones are where that uncovering becomes visible.
ALSO GROWS
kalyptō: To cover or conceal.
καλύπτω
The covering verb shows that ‘revealed’ carries the image of what was hidden becoming visible.
apokalypsis: Unveiling, revelation.
ἀποκάλυψις
This noun shares the same root and presents disclosure as an unveiling.
THE PATTERN
What human wisdom cannot secure is disclosed through those whom human rank treats as small.
Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger. But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;THE THREAD
All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.The same Greek verb, ἀποκαλύπτω (apokalyptō), appears again as ‘reveal’: the Son uncovers the Father to whoever he chooses, as the Father uncovers these things to babes. Together the verses present knowing as disclosure received, not a rank someone can claim.
