This verse in the King James

King James wording
And if thou offer a meat offering of thy firstfruits unto the LORD, thou shalt offer for the meat offering of thy firstfruits green ears of corn dried by the fire, even corn beaten out of full ears.

“Firstfruits” and “firstborn” grow from the same Hebrew root: both name what emerges first.

The first yield comes before the LORD while still green, then passes through fire and beating before it is offered. The grain is changed in form, yet it remains the first yield. The verse holds firstness and transformation together.

WHAT THIS UNDOES

It dissolves the assumption that what is first must be presented untouched: this offering is first, yet dried and beaten.

בִּכּוּרִים

bikkurim

GROWS FROM

בכר

b-k-r

To be firstborn; to emerge first.

English separates harvest from birth, but ⁨בִּכּוּרִים⁩ (bikkurim, firstfruits) and ⁨בְּכוֹר⁩ (bekhor, firstborn) share the root ⁨בכר⁩. The earliest yield and the firstborn belong to one family of words: both name the first emergence.

ALSO GROWS

bekhor: The firstborn child.

בְּכוֹר

It shares the root ⁨בכר⁩ with “firstfruits,” linking the first offspring and the earliest harvest in one Hebrew word-family.

bekhorah: The status or right associated with being firstborn.

בְּכוֹרָה

This branch carries firstness into a recognized standing, showing that the root reaches beyond order of birth to what is marked as first.

The first yield is presented as the opening portion of a greater harvest.

The first of the first-ripened of your ground you shall bring into the house of the LORD your God. You shall not boil a kid in his mother's milk.
Exodus 23:19 · SDVThe first yield is brought into the LORD’s house as the opening portion of the land’s harvest.
And now, behold, I have brought the first-ripened fruit of the ground, which you, O LORD, have given me. And you set it down before the LORD your God, and bow down before the LORD your God.
Deuteronomy 26:10 · SDVThe firstfruits stand before the LORD as the land’s first return.
But now the Anointed One has been awakened from the dead, and has become the first portion of those who have lain down to sleep.
1 Corinthians 15:20 · SDVThe first resurrection is named as the firstfruits of a wider harvest of life.
The first of the first-ripened of your ground you shall bring into the house of the LORD your God. You shall not boil a kid in his mother's milk.
Exodus 23:19 · SDV

The Hebrew term ⁨בִּכּוּרִים⁩ (bikkurim, firstfruits) shares the root ⁨בכר⁩ (b-k-r, to emerge first or be firstborn). Leviticus shows the first yield transformed by fire and beating; Exodus shows that same first yield carried into the LORD’s house.
