This verse in the King James

King James wording
For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in the same hour what ye ought to say.

The Set-Apart Breath that teaches you is also the breath from which your words emerge.

When the moment arrives and you do not know what to say, the Set-Apart Breath is present as your teacher. What you need comes in that same hour; it is not limited to what you prepared beforehand.

WHAT THIS UNDOES

The verse undoes the belief that if you cannot prepare the right words in advance, you will be left alone and speechless when the moment comes.

ἅγιον πνεῦμα

hagion pneuma

GROWS FROM

⁨πνευ-⁩ (pneu-), from ⁨πνέω⁩ (pneō)

Breathe, blow; the motion of air as breath or wind.

The Greek word pneuma belongs to the same word family as pneō, “to breathe, blow,” and pnoē, “breath, blowing.” Where “Ghost” can sound separate from the act of speaking, the Greek places the Set-Apart Breath at the source of speech, teaching what to say within the hour.

ALSO GROWS

pneō: To breathe or blow.

πνέω

This verb shares the seed of pneuma and links the teacher in the verse with the breath that carries speech.

pnoē: Breath or a blowing.

πνοή

This related noun makes the breath connection explicit: the same word family names both breath and the force that moves through the air.

pneuma: Breath, wind, or spirit, according to context.

πνεῦμα

This is the word translated “Ghost” here; its range gathers breath, wind, and spirit into one Greek word.

The needed utterance is supplied at the moment speech is demanded.

And now go, and I will be with your mouth, and I will teach you what you will speak.
Exodus 4:12 · SDVGod’s presence with the speaker’s mouth includes teaching the words to speak.
Then the LORD stretched out his hand and touched my mouth. And the LORD said to me, Look, I have set my words in your mouth.
Jeremiah 1:9 · SDVThe words arrive at the mouth that must speak them.
For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all those set against you will not be able to speak against or stand against.
Luke 21:15 · SDVWisdom and speech are given when the speaker faces opposition.
And now go, and I will be with your mouth, and I will teach you what you will speak.
Exodus 4:12 · SDV

Both verses place teaching at the mouth and tie the needed words to the moment of speaking. Luke makes the timing unmistakable: the teaching comes in that very hour.
