This verse in the King James

King James wording
The way of the wicked is an abomination unto the LORD: but he loveth him that followeth after righteousness.

The Hebrew calls the one who “followeth after” righteousness a pursuer, so the LORD’s love meets someone actively chasing alignment.

Your direction is visible in what you pursue. The LORD abhors the wicked person’s way and loves the one pursuing what is right. The verse places love on the person whose movement is toward alignment.

WHAT THIS UNDOES

This undoes the belief that a person must have a perfect record before being loved: the verse names love for the one pursuing alignment.
