This verse in the King James

King James wording
For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.

The heart rejoices because trust rests in God’s name as his nature, not merely as a label.

Your heart rejoices in God as it rests in the distinct character carried by his name. Trust is settled reliance on who he is, and joy grows from that reliance.

בָּטַחְנוּ

batachnu

GROWS FROM

בטח

To trust, feel secure, or rely with confidence.

“leaned our weight upon” in this verse is batachnu. The root holds trust and security together: to trust is to place reliance where the heart can rest. Here that reliance rests in God’s name, ⁨שֵׁם⁩ (shem, name as nature), so the heart’s joy grows from who God is.

ALSO GROWS

boteaḥ: One who trusts or feels secure.

בּוֹטֵחַ

This branch shows trust as a settled posture of reliance, not just agreement with an idea.

mivtaḥ: Security, refuge, or a source of confidence.

מִבְטָח

It makes visible the security carried by the trust described here: the heart finds its ground in God.

קָדוֹשׁ

qadosh

GROWS FROM

קדש

To set apart or consecrate.

“set-apart nature” in this verse is qadosh. God’s name is described as set apart: his nature is distinct, not interchangeable with whatever the heart happens to trust. The verse joins that distinct character to trust, then shows the heart answering with joy.

ALSO GROWS

qodesh: Set-apartness or what is consecrated.

קֹדֶשׁ

This noun reveals the quality carried by the description of God’s name.

miqdash: A sanctuary or set-apart place.

מִקְדָּשׁ

This branch shows how the root can describe a place marked as distinct, echoing the distinct nature in which the heart trusts.

Trust in God gives the heart a ground for joy.

But I have leaned my full weight upon your faithful love; my heart leaps in your deliverance.
Psalm 13:5 · SDVTrust and heart-deep rejoicing appear together, as in Psalm 33:21.
Look, God is my deliverance. I will lean my full weight and not tremble, for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song, and he has become my deliverance.
Isaiah 12:2 · SDVReliance on God meets fear with confidence and becomes strength and song.
Whom you have not perceived, you love; in whom, though now you do not perceive him, yet leaning your weight on him, you leap with joy that cannot be spoken and is clothed in weight.
1 Peter 1:8 · SDVTrust in the unseen one is joined to rejoicing, extending the same pattern into the present.
But I have leaned my full weight upon your faithful love; my heart leaps in your deliverance.
Psalm 13:5 · SDV

Both verses use ⁨בטח⁩ (batach, trust) and connect that reliance with the heart’s rejoicing. Psalm 13 names mercy and deliverance; Psalm 33 names God’s set-apart nature, showing what the heart rests in.
